Fifth Grade: Mood Paintings

I got the idea of mood paintings from an article in School Arts. The first day we created a list of moods A-Z and then discussed if we could experience different moods in one day. Then I asked my fifth graders what kind of line they would use to express _________ ( anger, happiness, crazy, etc). I played some inspirational music ( mainly Enya and George Winston) and students then did 4 thumbnail drawings and chose their favorite to enlarge. I then premixed colors so students could just focus on painting rather than mixing colors. Here are the results:

*The students loved this project so much I considered doing it at the end of the year for fourth grade before I move!
